Title
Establishing a Glass-Free Zone for Langdon Street  between North Park and North Lake Streets,  and North Park Street between University Avenue and Observatory Drive, from 10:00 a.m. on May 3, 2014 to 2:00 a.m. on May 4, 2014.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council adopted Section 23.36 of the Madison General Ordinances to establish a Glass-Free Zone in a specified geographic area during a specified period of time; and
 
WHEREAS,  the University of Wisconsin-Madison on behalf of the Wisconsin Union has requested a street use permit for use of portions of Langdon Street and Park Street adjacent to the Memorial Union for a student music and art festival called "Revelry" to be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on May 3, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, pending the approval and issuance of a Street Use Permit for this event, it has been determined that a Glass-Free Zone will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. on May 3, 2014 to 2:00 a.m. on May 4, 2014;  and
 
WHEREAS, the Glass-Free Zone will include the entirety of Langdon Street between North Park Street and North Lake Street, and North Park Street between University Avenue and Observatory Drive; and
 
WHEREAS, no person shall possess any glass container as defined in MGO 23.36 on city-owned property within the Glass-Free Zone during the times stated; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, subject to approval of a Street Use Permit to the University for the event described above,  the Common Council hereby creates a Glass-Free Zone in the geographic area described above to be operative from 10:00 a.m. on May 3, 2014 to 2:00 a.m. on May 4, 2014;  and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to MGO 23.36(2)(b), upon adoption, the City Clerk shall cause notice of the adoption of this resolution to be made by publication in the manner used for notice of the adoption of an ordinance.  The notice shall include a diagram setting forth the boundaries of the Glass-Free Zone.
