PREAMBLE

Madison Water Utility is planning to install new water main on West Badger Road from Fish Hatchery Road to the west dead end in the spring of 2014. In 2013 another section of water main on Badger Road immediately to the east was refurbished using pipe lining technology. Together, these two projects will remedy the issue of frequent water main breaks and repairs this section of road has suffered for decades. Both water main projects will be completed ahead of the 2014 City of Madison contract to resurface West Badger Road.

Work on this project includes disconnecting all water service laterals from the existing water main to the new main once the new main is serviceable. To make these connections, the lateral must be taken out of service. The operation typically takes four to six hours to complete and but may take several hours longer if unaccounted factors arise.

Any interruption in their service between these hours is a severe hardship for the business. To accommodate this business, Madison Water Utility seeks to perform the operations that would cut off water supply to this business to after 4pm.

The proposed activities beyond the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM are as follows:

1) One occurrence of the operation to disconnect the 6-inch water service at 1310 West Badger Road from the existing water main and move it to the new wate...
