Amendment #2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates Inc to cover additional costs resulting from an unanticipated project delay will not exceed $12,800. Funds for this project are included in the 2013 Water Utility Capital Budget, EW01-54950-810459.
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute Amendment #2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates for additional costs resulting from unanticipated project delays due to property acquisition and permitting requirements for the Well 7 iron and manganese filtration project (12th AD).
Body
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility relies on Well 7 as a critical supply point to the City's north side; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility is reconstructing the Well 7 facility and adding an iron and manganese filter; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates Inc. for design and construction administration services for the Well 7 project, and;
WHEREAS, The project has been delayed for more than 6 months due to complications arising from property acquisition and the resulting permitting requirements, and;
WHEREAS, Strand Associates anticipates unexpected additional costs due to inflation and annual salary increases;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute Amendment #2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates not to exceed $12,800 for additional costs due to the unanticipated delay in the project due to property acquisition and permitting.
