Thanking members of the local music and entertainment industry for bringing BandSwap to Madison and Sexy Ester for representing Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Madison Wisconsin is one of the best places in the country to enjoy live music; and
WHEREAS, SpokesBUZZ, a 501c3 organization that promotes music, arts and culture scene in Fort Collins, Colorado, invited the City of Madison to participate in BandSwap because of our broad and eclectic music scene, and
WHEREAS, BandSwap is a collaborative event that highlights and promotes the music scenes of eight cities, through a nationwide effort with venues, media, fans and bands; and
WHEREAS, On July 23, 2013 the Madison Arts Commission unanimously voted to participate in BandSwap with SpokesBUZZ Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, New Belgium Brewing, Majestic Live, and Wisconsin Distributors, donated the $5000.00 match to make Madison’s participation in Bandswap2013 possible; and
WHEREAS, the High Noon Saloon donated the venue for the Madison Bandswap Concert; and
WHEREAS, the Great Dane Pub and Brewing Company donated the venue for the Artist Networking Event; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Dethmers owner of High Noon Saloon; Scott Leslie of Majestic Live; Eliot Butler of The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company; Rick Tvedt of the Madison Area Music Awards; Roy Elkins of Broadjam; Matt Jacoby of Local Sounds; Chris Taylor of Madison Media Institute and the Madison Arts Commission; all generously provided their expertise to the event organizers in the spirit of promoting Madison, our musicians and our music scene; and
WHEREAS, after a period of open nominations, the band “Sexy Ester,” a new wave rock band, was selected by Mayor Soglin to represent Madison based on qualities such as musicianship, creativity, showmanship, professional dedication, career aptitude, social marketing savvy, collaborative spirit, availability, and fit; and
WHEREAS, SpokesBUZZ selected the Colorado band “Common Anomaly” to ...
