Title
Creating Section 12.167(2)(c) of the Madison General Ordinances to allow bicycles to be ridden within the redesigned State Street Mall, effective September 1, 2014.
Body
DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance will allow, as part of the redesign and reconstruction of the State Street Mall, the use of bicycles down the center of the 700-800 blocks of State Street, the northern 140 feet of East Campus Mall and Fitch Court, and that portion of State Street connecting this new bike corridor to East Campus Mall and Fitch Court. Bicycle use is currently prohibited in this pedestrian mall, but the redesign will open up the space and allow for the safe passage of bicycles through the area. Bicycle users will still need to follow the ordinances and rules relating to the rest of the State Street and Library Mall areas. This ordinance will be effective September 1, 2014.
