Proclaiming Saturday, September 28, 2013 as National Plug-In Day in Madison, Wisconsin.
Body
WHEREAS, September 28, 2013 has been designated as National Plug-In Day throughout the United States to educate our citizens about the benefits of plug-in electric vehicles and to promote their adoption; and,
 
WHEREAS, National Plug-In Day drives change to accelerate the shift to plug-in vehicles powered by clean, affordable, domestic electricity to reduce our nation's dependence on petroleum and improve the global environment; and,
 
WHEREAS, National Plug-In Day leaders work through grassroots activism, education and outreach to accelerate the global shift to all electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sierra Club, Plug-In America, the Electric Auto Association, and the Wisconsin Electric Vehicle Association represent the drivers and supporters of plug-ins, including motorcycles, bicycles, passenger cars and trucks; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison is dedicated to being a leader in the use of clean energy, establishing policies and programs that conserve energy and contribute to the transportation transformation,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,  that the Mayor and Madison Common Council  do hereby proclaim September 28, 2013 as "National Plug-In Day" and call upon all residents of this great City to join in supporting the aims and goals of this worthwhile effort.
