PREAMBLE
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT) administers the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and has approved a project for the City of Madison at the intersection of Mineral Point Road and Midvale Boulevard.  The improvement will include turn lanes, new overhead traffic signals and improved signage.  The project is a safety project designed to reduce accidents at the intersection.  The proposed project is planned for construction in the year 2015.
The City of Madison and the WDOT propose to enter into an agreement for design and construction cost sharing for the proposed project.  Design and construction are eligible for 90% HSIP funding.  The local share (10%) will be paid for by the City of Madison.  
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute agreements with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for cost sharing for the reconstruction of the Mineral Point Road and Midvale Boulevard Intersection
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute amendments to the original agreement provided the total City share contained in the original agreement plus all amendments does not exceed $118,718.
