Proposed Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Baxter & Woodman, Inc. for the addition of a generator at Unit Well 26 shall not exceed $13,000. Total maximum compensation shall not exceed $75,100. Funds for this Amendment are included in the Water Utility Capital Budget, Account# EW01-58599-810458.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Baxter & Woodman, Inc. for the preparation of drawings and specifications, permitting, bidding and construction administration for the Unit Well 26 generator addition and facility upgrade at 910 High Point Rd (9TH AD).
Body
WHEREAS, in 2012 Madison Water Utility Water contracted with Baxter & Woodman to provide design, bidding and construction administration services for a generator addition and facility upgrade to Unit Well 26; and
 
WHEREAS, the original objective of improving the reliability of Unit Well 26 and redundancy in the west side water supply remains; and
 
WHEREAS, during the course of implementing the original contract Baxter & Woodman provided a Estimate of Probable Construction Cost for the project significantly higher than the project budget; and
 
WHEREAS, to reduce the estimated cost to be more in line with the project budget, the planned building addition will be eliminated and the generator will instead be housed outside as a self-contained unit inside a pre-fabricated enclosure; and
 
WHEREAS, the revised scope requires additional design services; and
 
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has negotiated a fee and scope for the additional services;
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Baxter and Woodman for the "Unit Well 26 Generator Addition and Facility Upgrade" project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that change orders that do not exceed Madison Water Utility's approved budget or the scope of the project as authorized by the Common Council may be executed by the Water Utility General Manager and City Finance and/or designee, and counter executed by Baxter & Woodman.
