I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen committee appointments.  Committee applications for mayoral appointments are attached.  Statement of Interest forms are on file for these appointees where applicable.
 
 
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
 
CLAUDIA HAACK BENEDICT (10th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of two-year term and to a full two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Ms. Haack Benedict is a manager with the Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation.  She succeeds Russell D. Pietz.

COMMISSION ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
 
DALE W. HOPKINS (3rd A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Hopkins is retired from the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin, Inc.  He serves on several boards including Board of Directors for Employment Resources, Inc. and the Madison Area Support Group for Adults with ADHD.  He succeeds Christian T. Moran.

COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE
 
MICHELLE L. MICHALAK (4th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Community Representative.  Ms. Michalak is a membership organizer for AFSCME Local 60.  She succeeds David Wandel.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE
 
JENNIFER M. DITTRICH-TEMPLIN (15th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Day Care Worker.  Ms. Dittrich-Templin is a Parent Resource Specialist with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She succeeds Joanna R. Parker.

KARALYN A. KRATOWICZ (6th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Citizen Member.  Ms. Kratowicz is a KidStat Analyst at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.  She succeeds Celsa G. Rodriguez.

LANDLORD AND TENANT ISSUES COMMITTEE
 
CHARLES L. BREUNIG (6th A.D.) - appoint to an initial term and to a three-year term to the position of Tenant Organization Representative.  Mr. Breunig is a volunteer housing counselor at the Tenant Resource Center and serves on their Board of Directors.

JILL A. SEVERSON (7th A.D.) - appoint to an initial term and to a three-year term to the position of  Apartment Owners  Organization Representative.  Ms. Severson is part owner and current building manager for The Hawthorne Buildings, LLC.

MICHAEL "INDY" STLUKA (13th A.D.) - appoint to an initial term and to a three-year term to the position of Citizen Member. Mr. Stluka is currently studying Economics at Edgewood College.

CURTIS V. BRINK (19th A.D.) - appoint to an initial term and to a three-year term to the position of Citizen Member.  Mr. Brink is the owner of Curt Vaughn Brink, LLC.  He also serves on the board of Downtown Madison, Inc.

DAVID R. SPARER (6th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Citizen Member.  Mr. Sparer is a partner with the law firm Herrick & Kasdorf, LLP. He has worked in the area of tenants' rights for the past 30 years.

Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission recommendation:
SUSAN M. DE VOS (11th A.D.) - appoint to the position of Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission Member.  She succeeds Ald. Bridget Maniaci.
