Dane County will provide State 85.21 funding in the amount of $143,000 to the Transit Utility for the transportation of elderly persons and persons with physical disabilities. Funding for the program is included in the Transit Utility's 2012 Operating Budget
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Dane County for the purpose of providing the Transit Utility with State 85.21 funding given to Dane County for the provision of accessible transportation for eligible persons within Metro Transit's service area in the calendar year 2012.
Body
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation provides State 85.21 (§ 85.21 Wis. Stats) funding to Dane County for transit services for persons who are elderly (65 years old or older) and /or persons with physical disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, each year Dane County provides the Transit Utility with a portion of its 85.21 allocation to assist the Transit Utility in the operation of its paratransit services; and,
WHEREAS, funding for this program (§85.21) provides a revenue source for Metro's ADA Paratransit Program, a service required under the federal regulation and is estimated to fund in 2012 approximately 4,917 trips for (un-specified) individuals; and,
WHEREAS, this program is an example of a model cooperative funding program to the mutual benefit of both transit and human services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to enter into an agreement with Dane County to receive Specialized Transportation Assistance funding in the amount not less than $ 143,000 for the provision by Metro Transit of eligible ADA paratransit program services in the Transit Utility's ADA paratransit service area during the calendar year 2012.
