This resolution transfers $100,000 of available funds from the City-County Building Improvements capital project to the General Building Improvements capital project. It also establishes the requisite budget authority to spend the transferred funds in the General Building Improvements capital project.

Title
Amending the 2012 Facilities Management Capital Budget and Transferring $100,000 from City-County Building Improvements (810621) to General Building Improvements (810595) to allow for the upgrade of the electrical panels at the Madison Municipal Building.
Body
Whereas the City-County Building Improvements project has significant cash and budget authority for capital improvements to the City-County Building; and

Whereas Dane County is implementing these projects slower that initially planned; and

Whereas the General Building Improvements project is for all city buildings and needs to maintain a sufficient budget capacity in order to meet these needs for the entire year; and

Whereas the electrical load of the Madison Municipal Building has increased over time; and

Whereas Facilities Management has made the assessment that there is a critical upgrade to the Madison Municipal Building that needs to be completed immediately that being upgrading the electrical panels at the Madison Municipal Building as these panels are undersized for the current electrical load on the 2nd and 3rd floors; and

Whereas this undersized capacity caused a power-outage of the 3rd floor the week of June 18, 2012; and

Whereas plans and specifications are already developed and ready to bid out.
