Extending Thoughts and Prayers for Citizens of Mantova, Italy
Body
WHEREAS, beginning in 2001, the citizens of Madison, Wisconsin and Mantova, Italy established a Sister City relationship coordinated by the Italian Workmen's Club of Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, the citizens of Madison have hosted several cultural exchanges of musical groups; and
 
WHEREAS, the citizens of Madison have coordinated a seminar for the government of Mantova about lake and water pollution; and
 
WHEREAS, the citizens from Mantova have hosted a U-17 Youth Soccer Team from Mantova in Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, culinary chefs from Mantova have made presentations to culinary students at Madison College; and
 
WHEREAS, the Italian Workmen's Club recently hosted a delegation from Mantova and coordinated meetings with business representatives and Farmers Market staff about the possibility of developing a business relationship with Mantova companies; and
 
WHEREAS, the citizens of Mantova have endured a series of unprecedented earthquakes causing substantial damage to many historical sites in Mantova; and
 
WHEREAS, the citizens of Mantova have sustained minimal personal injuries;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that The Madison Common Council and the citizens of Madison extend our thoughts and prayers to our friends and collegues in Mantova in their time of need.   We look forward to the continuation of our friendship and relationship for many years to come.
