SUBSTITUTE Amending Section 33.28 of the Madison General Ordinances to revise the title and composition of the Board of Education/Common Council Liaison Committee.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance changes the name and composition of the Board of Education/Common Council Liaison Committee.  The Committee will now be called the Education Committee and will include, as members, two County Board Supervisors.  As a result of these changes, this Committee can serve as a formal channel for the City of Madison, Dane County, and the Board of Education to discuss and make recommendations regarding education related issues of shared concern.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
      Section 33.28 entitled "Board Of Education/Common Council Liaison Committee" of the Madison General Ordinances is re-titled the "Education Committee" and amended to read as follows:
"33.28      BOARD OF EDUCATION/COMMON COUNCIL LIAISON COMMITTEE.  The Board of Education/Common Council Liaison Committee serves as a formal channel of communication and policy recommendations regarding issues of mutual shared concern between the City of Madison, the Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education, and Dane County.  The Committee shall and meets on an as-needed basis.  The Committee consists of sixeight (68) members:  Mayor or designee, two Common Council members, the Madison Metropolitan School District School Superintendent or representative, and two Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education members, and two County Board Supervisors."
