Title
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for the Fire Station No. 13 in the amount of $318,125.
Body
WHEREAS the 2012 Capital Budget includes an amount of $360,000 for architectural and engineering consultant design services, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this project; and,
WHEREAS the total contract compensation for architectural and engineering design services for Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. is $318,125; and,
WHEREAS the project is the continuing development and preparation of architectural and engineering design, plans and specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process and construction administration services for the design and construction of a new building, including site development work, for the Fire Station No. 13, located on Lot 3, at 6350 Town Center Drive, in Madison, Wisconsin; and,
WHEREAS the new fire station will be designed to provide spaces for living and sleeping quarters for a double company plus two officer quarters with living support spaces such as toilet and shower rooms, kitchen, dining, gym room, day room, laundry, and similar areas; and,
WHEREAS a community room with adjoining toilet room will be provided for public use; and,
WHEREAS the project is scheduled for design in 2012; and,
WHEREAS the scope of this project shall include professional architectural and engineering design services for site and building improvements that will achieve LEED Certification-Silver following the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) Rating System.
WHEREAS Zimmerman Architectural Studios. Inc. located at 2122 West Mt. Vernon Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been selected through the "Request for Qualifications" process and "Final Interview" process, and is the final selected candidate in accordance with MGO Section 4.26 of Madison General Ordinances and in accordance with APM No. 3-3 of Administrative Procedure Memorandum; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a contract for purchase of services, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, with Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for Fire Station No. 13.
