Proclaiming April 2012 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, child abuse is a complex and ongoing problem in our society, affecting great numbers of children in City of Madison; and,
 
WHEREAS, every child is entitled to be loved, cared for, nurtured, and secure and to be free from verbal abuse, sexual abuse, emotional and physical abuse and neglect; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has dedicated individuals and organizations who work daily to counter the problem of child abuse and neglect to help parents obtain the assistance they need; and,
 
WHEREAS, City of Madison residents celebrate children, this city's greatest resource and the community leaders of tomorrow,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Madison Common Council proclaim the month of April 2012 as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH in the City of Madison and commend this observance to the citizens of this community.
