WHEREAS, Matt Kenseth is a Wisconsin native who grew up just a few miles from Madison in Cambridge; and
 
WHEREAS, Matt Kenseth began his racing career at 16, and quickly made a name for himself winning races all across Wisconsin; and
 
WHEREAS, Matt Kenseth has had an impressive and successful career in racing, including winning the 2009 Daytona 500; and
 
WHEREAS, the Daytona 500 is the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar; and
 
WHEREAS, on February 28th, 2012 Matt Kenseth won the 2012 Daytona 500 for the second time; and
 
WHEREAS, only eight other drivers have won the Daytona 500 more than once;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council of Madison, Wisconsin honor and congratulate Matt Kenseth for his impressive and historic victory.
