Fiscal Note
This resolution authorizes the acceptance of fourteen $750 grants from KaBoom!  These grants will be provided in the form of gift card donations towards the purchase of future play equipment and supplies.   Expenses will be recognized as appropriate within either the 2012 Adopted Parks Division Capital Budget or the Adopted Parks Division Operating Budget, depending on the type and size of the improvements.   No additional appropriation is required and there is no impact on the property tax levy.

Body
WHEREAS, KaBoom! is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of playgrounds and public play spaces; and
 
WHEREAS, KaBoom! offers small grant awards of up to $750 for playground improvements through its "Let's Play Spruce" grant program; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Parks Division has applied for and been awarded fourteen of these grants for playground work performed at Richmond Hills Park, Door Creek Park, Edward Klief Park, Heritage Heights Park, James Madison Park, Maple Praire Park, Meadowood Park, Monona Park, Odana Hills Park, Owls Creek Park, Quarry Cove Park, Secret Places Park, Sycamore Park and Washington Manor Park; and
 
WHEREAS, under these agreements the City will use the combined $10,500 in grant funding towards playground repairs and improvements in 2012.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Parks Superintendent is authorized to sign, on behalf of the city, the Let's Play Spruce Grant Agreements with KaBoom!, which includes accepting up to $10,500 to fund the above-described services;
 
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that each agreement authorized by this resolution for the above noted purposes, and the terms and conditions thereof, shall be consistent with the attached Let's Play Spruce Grant Agreement.
