Title: Amending Section 12.145(1)(e) of the Madison General Ordinances to clarify that the operator of a vehicle parking at a multi-space meter need only display a receipt if required by the directions on the multi-space meter.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: Originally, the City anticipated it would employ “Pay and Display” parking meters which would require the display of a receipt to verify payment for parking. Currently, the multi-space meters in operation are “Pay by Space” and do not require the display of a receipt. This change clarifies that the display of a receipt is only necessary when the directions on the multi-space meter so require. This allows for flexibility should the City incorporate “Pay and Display” parking in the future.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subdivision (e) entitled “Parking at a Multi-Space Meter” of Subsection (1) entitled “Restrictions” of Section 12.145 entitled “Parking at Parking Meters and Multi-Space Meters; Meter Rates” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
