Approving a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs for the Fire Department to provide services beginning October 1, 2011 to the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital.
Body
The Madison Fire Department provides fire protection services to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. A new contract has been awarded with an effective date of October 1, 2011. The one-year contract starting on October 1, 2011 is for $45,276. Then contract also includes four option year extensions. If all options are exercised, the contract expiration date would be September 30, 2016 with a total compensation of $232,836. The option year amounts are:

WHEREAS, the City of Madison wishes to continue providing services to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital under a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council approves the contract and authorizes the Mayor, Fire Chief and City Clerk to execute all necessary contract documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City approval of this contract includes the four option years if awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
