Recognizing and honoring the exemplary work done by the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Wisconsin and their national organization and wishing them a successful and productive regional conference in the City of Madison, October 14-16, 2011.
Body
WHEREAS,      the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Wisconsin (GFWC-Wisconsin) is a statewide volunteer community service organization that promotes individual growth and provides education and training to enrich the quality of life worldwide; and,
 
WHEREAS,      GFWC - Wisconsin was chartered into the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) on October 20, 1896 and the organization's objective is to bring the women's clubs of Wisconsin together and provide a networking system for these clubs with clubs from other state federations and the GFWC headquarters; and,
 
WHEREAS,      for over 100 years GFWC - Wisconsin has worked to address the needs of their members, their communities, the nation and the world through volunteerism; and,
 
WHEREAS,       GFWC has advocated for the pure food and drug act, implementation of child labor laws, seat belt laws and the founding of the League of Nations; and,
 
WHEREAS,       GFWC-Wisconsin recently finished a project started in 2002 to equip all ambulances in the state with color coded pediatric emergency jump kits, thereby raising the standard of pediatric emergency care in the entire state, including all the ambulances in Dane County; and,
 
WHEREAS,      their structure allows them to address the emerging needs of individual communities and the nation, and they are quick to respond to calls for help,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council recognizes and honors the exemplary work done by the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Wisconsin and their national organization and wishes them a successful and productive regional conference in the City of Madison, October 14-16, 2011.
