Amending Section 34.507(1)(b) of the Madison General Ordinances to exempt private fire service mains from Madison Fire Department (MFD) plan review.
Body
DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance creates an exception from MFD plan review for private fire service mains that do not supply a fire hydrant. As long as the plans for these mains have been reviewed and approved by the Building Inspection Division, the plans do not need to be reviewed by MFD.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subdivision (b) of Subsection (1) entitled “Fire Protection Water Supply and Fire Hydrants” of Section 34.507 entitled “Fire Protection Water Supply” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(b) Plans shall be submitted to the Chief for review to determine compliance with the applicable standards prior to the installation of private fire service mains and fire hydrants. The Chief shall act upon such applications within fifteen (15) days of receipt. Denials of such applications may be appealed to the Board.
