The 2011 Parks Division Capital Budget, project #1, “Beach and Shoreline Improvements,” contains sufficient budgetary authority for the anticipated matching funds required for this grant opportunity. Current total estimated costs of this project are approximately $115,000, which would yield a City share of approximately $57,500. CL60-58290-810677.

To authorize the Parks Superintendent to apply for a grant from the Wisconsin Waterways Commission for dredging a channel for recreational boating for the Marshall Park Dredging Project, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter an agreement to accept and use grant funds towards the Marshall Park Dredging Project.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison hereby requests financial assistance for the purpose of dredging a channel for recreational boating at Marshall Park;

WHEREAS, the City of Madison 2011 Parks Division Capital Budget has sufficient budgetary authority for this project; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Kevin Briski, Parks Superintendant, is authorized to act on behalf of the City of Madison to:

Submit an application to the Wisconsin Waterways Commission for financial assistance;
Sign documents; and Take necessary action to undertake, direct, and complete the approved project;

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Waterways Commission and/or the Department of Natural Resources to accept and use grant funds towards the Spring Harbor Dredging Project,

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the agreements are to be reviewed and approved by the City Attorney and Risk Manager,

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City of Madison will comply with state and federal rules for the programs; may perform force account work; will maintain the completed project in an attractive, inviting and safe manner; will keep the facilities open to the public during reasonable hours consistent with the type of facility; ...
