Fiscal Note
The adopted 2011 Operating Budget includes $50,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund. This resolution allocates the entire balance of the Fund.
Title
Approving the provision of 2011 Emerging Neighborhood funds to several agencies and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into agreements with those agencies to implement the project.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2011 City of Madison Operating Budget provides $50,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund; and
 
WHEREAS, the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund Workgroup issued applications with a due date of April 22nd, 2011, reviewed the submissions (which included $219,117.27 in total funding requests) and now makes the following funding recommendations.
 
NOW, THREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves the following recommended allocations:
 
 
Allied Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood Association - for up to $3,820 for the Allied Girls Empowered by Motivated Sisters (GEMS) program serving the Allied Dunn's Marsh neighborhood.
 
Boys & Girls Club of Dane County - for up to $6,000 for the Garden Club program serving the Bram's Addition neighborhood.
 
Centro Hispano - for up to $8,550 for the Nosotras Superando program serving the Burr Oaks neighborhood.
 
East Madison Community Center - for up to $7,000 for the Residents Involved in Neighborhood Growth (RING) program.
 
Goodman Community Center - for up to $5,000 for the Step Up & Out Summer Camp program serving the Darbo-Worthington Park neighborhood.
 
Latino Children & Families Council (Vera Court Neighborhood Center will serve as the fiscal agent) - for up to $3,900 for the Latino Children & Families Council Radio Program:  Integracion Familiar:  Construyendo Hogares Felices service all of Madison.
 
Lussier Community Education Center - for up to $5,000 for the MadWest Neighborhood Farmer's Market serving the Wexford Ridge neighborhood.
 
Meadowood Neighborhood Center & Wisconsin Youth Company - for up to $5,800 for the See May Story Photo Project serving the Meadowood and Prairie Hills neighborhoods. Meadowood Neighborhood Center will be the contractor for this joint contract.
 
Youth Services of Southern Wisconsin - for up to $4,930 for the Southwest Madison Youth Work Crew:  Clean and Freshies serving the Southwest & Surrounding neighborhoods.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Community Development Division, Office of Community Services will serve as the lead contract agency for all funded projects; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to sign agreements with the above listed agencies or their fiscal agents for the described activities.
