Fiscal Note
Maintaining the current position of Pedestrian Bike Coordinator through all of 2011 will result in additional salary expense of an estimated $2,800, plus benefit expense.  These additional expenses can be accommodated within Traffic Engineering's adopted operating budget.  No additional appropriation is required.

Body
WHEREAS, the 2011 adopted operating budget of the Traffic Engineering Division provides for the elimination of the current position of Pedestrian Bike Coordinator (CG-RG:  18-06) and the creation of a new position of Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager (CG-RG:  18-xx), effective July 1, 2011; and,
 
WHEREAS, in light of new and emerging fiscal constraints imposed upon the City by the state budget there is a need to re-examine funding sources and collaborative funding efforts with surrounding communities; and,
 
WHEREAS, further input and examination the job responsibilities and minimum job requirements is necessary in order to explore alternative funding options; and
 
WHEREAS, the position of Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Coordinator may be deleted and the position of Bicycle Program Manager may be recreated in the 2012 budget;  
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the 2011 adopted operating budget of the Traffic Engineering Division be amended to delete the position of Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager (CG-RG:  18-xx) and to maintain the current position of Pedestrian Bike Coordinator (CG-RG:  18-06).
