Fiscal Note
This grant, if awarded, requires a 20% match of $1,508.  The match will be funded through the Fire Department's 2011 budget or included in its 2012 budget, depending on the grant award year.  No appropriation is required.

A grant application has been submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), DHS for the 2010 Fire Prevention Grant  to fund a project on kitchen fire hazards.  The project request is for a Fire Hazard Kitchen Simulator, educational materials and window graphics.
 
The  project is 80% federal funds and a 20% match by the City of $1,508.  The budget is:

If the grant is awarded in 2011, the Fire Department plans to  absorb the match or budget in 2012 if the grant is not awarded this year.
 
WHEREAS, the City has applied for a grant to promote community awareness kitchen fire hazards.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accept the 2010 Fire Prevention Grant from FEMA if awarded.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor. City Clerk and other necessary City officials are authorized to necessary award documents.
 
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council approves the grant budget.
