Changing the existing name of Arrowwood (2-W's) Drive to Arrowood (1-W) Drive from Sheridan Drive to Almo Avenue.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council, by Resolution No. 12,459, adopted March 9, 1967, has approved a master list of existing street names and designations for all purposes; and
 
WHEREAS, Secs. 10.34(1) and 10.35, Madison General Ordinances, require the City Engineer to maintain certain street numbering maps; and
 
WHEREAS, the subdivision plat of First Addition to Brentwood Village was recorded October 30, 1953 officially naming a portion of the subject street as Arrowwood Drive (2-W's); and
 
WHEREAS, the subdivision plat of Second Addition to Brentwood Village was recorded March 30, 1956 officially naming a portion of the subject street as Arrowwood Drive (2-W's); and
 
WHEREAS, the subdivision plat of Third Addition to Brentwood Village was recorded September 20, 1961 officially naming the remaining portion of the subject street as Arrowwood Drive (2-W's); and
 
WHEREAS, from the time the street was platted, officially named, and built, the city of Madison had incorrectly signed the street name spelled as Arrowood Drive (1-W); and
 
WHEREAS, in November of 2009, the Engineering Division contacted the Traffic Engineering Division informing them of this discrepancy; and
 
WHEREAS, the city of Madison Traffic Engineering Division then changed the street signs to read the official platted name of Arrowwood Drive (2-W's); and
 
WHEREAS, the majority of all residents addressed to this street historically have used the spelling of Arrowood Drive (1-W) and objected to this change; and
 
WHEREAS, following property owner recognition of the recent signage changes by Traffic Engineering, a petition was received on July 22, 2010 signed by 14 of the 22 residents living on the subject street requesting the City of Madison officially change the name from Arrowwood Drive (2-W's) to Arrowood Drive (1-W); and
 
WHEREAS, the Engineering Division sent out a separate survey to all 22 residents whom are addressed to the subject street asking if each of them would support the street name change; and
 
WHEREAS, as of February 14, 2011, the Engineering Division had responses from 11 of the 22 residents, all of whom supported the street name change to Arrowood Drive (1-W); and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Engineering Division supports the request of changing the name of Arrowwood Drive (2-W's) to Arrowood Drive (1-W).
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by approving this resolution, the City of Madison Common Council hereby approves the street name change from the existing name of Arrowwood (2-W's) Drive to Arrowood (1-W) Drive from Sheridan Drive to Almo Avenue.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, upon approval and adoption, all public street signage changes required as a result of this resolution shall be completed by the city of Madison Traffic Engineering Division; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, upon adoption of this street name change resolution, the city of Madison Engineering Division will provide notification to the appropriate U.S. Postal Offices, Dane County 911 Office, and various affected City of Madison Department Managers. All city of Madison databases and records will be updated to reflect the new street name.
Fiscal Note
Traffic Engineering estimates signage replacement fabrication and labor costs of approximately $600.00 for changing three existing street signs. Budget authority is available in the following:
