Cost of the projects and a portion of the program administration will be covered by the grant and administered through a segregated fund. The amount of funding available to the City for administration is estimated to be approximately $3,200.

The city of Madison has worked closely with a group of community-based non-profit agencies that provide services and housing to homeless persons and those at risk of becoming homeless. This cooperation involves City sponsorship and administration of an annual application to the State of Wisconsin for federal and state funds for various projects.
The state’s application is comprised of three initiatives: 1) Homelessness Prevention Initiative grant is allocated across the state Continuums of Care (CoC) based on a formula of need; the City’s allocation is $135,090; 2) Rapid Re-Housing grant which is competitive with projects statewide; the City’s application includes a very competitive project for the maximum amount allowed that expandsthe numbers of homeless families with children moving from shelter into housing; and 3) Emergency Housing Stabilization Services grant which is also competitive; the City’s application will compete with other projects in the “Other Metro” category.
There are 11 cooperating Homeless Services Consortium agencies in the City’s application that serve specific homeless populations groups or offer a specialized approach or set of services to strengthen the continuum of care for homeless persons in the community.
