Body
WHEREAS, State of Wisconsin Department of Justice, Training and Standards Bureau, has made available seed funding to help Wisconsin law enforcement agencies receive formalized police leadership training; and

WHEREAS, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has developed a three-week training program that is nationally recognized for its excellence and has agreed to send experienced instructors to Madison for the purposes of conducting such training; and

WHEREAS, the course material will provide strategies that will challenge participants to re-examine their organizational roles and inspire them to develop and improve their leadership skills to achieve their leadership potential; and

WHEREAS, the Chief of Police believes that this training would help to reinforce the existing and future mission, goals and values of the Madison Police Department and desires to have members of the Madison Police Department’s management team attend this training; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Police Department has already sent thirteen (13) employees to this training program in 2009/2010, who are from a variety of positions within the department, and has identified that this training would fulfill existing leadership training needs within the Madison Police Department; and
