Proclaiming November 2010 as "Energy Awareness Month" in the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Madison is committed to leading by example, as an Energy Independent Community, in the use of clean energy and increased energy efficiency; and
 
WHEREAS, a more prosperous future for our community's economy means making investments in energy efficiency and clean energy today; and
 
WHEREAS, innovation in energy technology will decrease our use of non-renewable energy sources, increase our energy efficiency, strengthen our economy and reduce dangerous pollution; and
 
WHEREAS, well-funded energy research and development will not only help protect our environment and support our communities, but it will also address concerns of global competiveness and national security; and
 
WHEREAS, during Energy Awareness Month, we recognize the contributions of individuals, organizations and companies that are committed to advancing energy innovation and efficiency, and we promote the importance of a clean energy economy to our world;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council proclaim November 2010 as "Energy Awareness Month" in the City of Madison.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we call upon the people of our community to mark this month by making clean energy choices that can both rebuild our economy and make it more sustainable.
