Title
Recognizing and commending Barb Constans on her retirement after 31 year of dedicated service.
Body
WHEREAS, Barb started her career with the City of Madison on April 2, 1979 as a Planning Technician; and,
WHEREAS, through her years of service Barb rose to a senior level Grants Administrator having substantive responsibility for multi-disciplinary projects as well as for the general management and program development of the office as a member of the management team; and,
WHEREAS, Barb's ability to work with not-for-profit agencies, private developers and citizens has led to the development of long-term and innovative partnerships that have resulted in the development of the Business Loan Program, the Homebuyers' Downpayment Program, the HOME Housing Program and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program; and,
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Barb has had significant involvement in many projects of great importance to the residents of the City of Madison such as the transformation of the Greyhound property to Main Street Industries, Troy Gardens, Yahara River Housing development, redevelopment of Vera Court and the Twin Oaks Housing development; and,
WHEREAS, through her leadership, dedication, and hard work, Barb has enhanced the quality of services to low- and moderate-income residents; and,
WHEREAS, her extensive knowledge of Community Development, especially Housing and Economic Development, has made her an invaluable resource and advisor to other City Departments, junior staff and community agencies; and.
WHEREAS, throughout her many years of service, Barb's frankness, and willingness to address tough problems have earned the respect of all those she has worked with;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council do hereby offer, on behalf of the City of Madison, great thanks and appreciation for the many years of service and devotion of Barb Constans and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council wish her a productive and enjoyable retirement.
