The adopted 2010 Operating Budget includes $50,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund. This resolution allocates the entire balance of the Fund.

Approving the provision of Emerging Neighborhood funds to several agencies and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into agreements with those agencies to implement the project.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2010 City of Madison Operating Budget provides $50,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund; and

WHEREAS, the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund Workgroup issued applications with a due date of March 26, 2010, reviewed the submissions (which included $184,654 in total funding requests) and now makes the following funding recommendations.

NOW, THREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves the following recommended allocations:

Animal Crackers for up to $7,972 for the summer camp slots serving the Hammersley neighborhood.

Bayview Foundation for up to $800 for computer classes and job search and assistance serving the Triangle neighborhood.

Boys & Girls Club for up to $3,500 for the Family Chefs program serving the Bram’s Addition neighborhood.

Dane County Parent Council for up to $5,000 for the Building Community Partnerships program serving the Leopold to Allied Drive neighborhood.

Kennedy Heights Neighborhood Association for up to $4,000 for the Pathways to Employment program serving the Kennedy Heights neighborhood.

Lussier Community Education Center for up to $5,000 for the Employment Collaborative program serving the Far West and Southwest neighborhoods.

Progress Through Business for up to $5,654 for the Job Mentoring, Tax & FAFSA preparation program serving the Meadowood neighborhood.

Simpson Street Free Press for up to $2,300 for the Simpson Street Free Press - Online program serving the Lake Point and South Madison neighborhoods.
