Title

Authorizing the City Engineer to sign a permit allowing sidewalk construction in Wisconsin Department of Transportation lands.  (5th AD)

Body

The City of Madison is proposing to reconstruct the intersection of University Avenue and Campus Drive in the summer of 2010.  As part of the project, the sidewalk on the north side of University Avenue will be expanded from 5 feet wide to 8 feet wide to allow for better bicycle and pedestrian access.  This sidewalk extends across Wisconsin Department of Transportation rail road lands.  The work on rail road lands requires a permit from WisDOT.  Standard language on the WisDOT permit requires indemnification language that the City shall hold harmless the WisDOT, Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. and the Wisconsin River Rail Transit Commission for work connected with this construction.   

BE IT RESOLVED:

That the City Engineer is authorized to sign a permit allowing sidewalk construction in Wisconsin Department of Transportation Lands.
