Title
SUBSTITUTE  Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a contract with a consultant Clark Dietz Inc. not to exceed $180,317 for consulting services for the procurement of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Plan (City-wide).
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Madison Water Utility has developed a plan for implementation of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to facilitate water conservation, improve customer service including leak detection and self-service consumption data, and optimize infrastructure planning, and
 
WHEREAS, a professional services consultant is needed to prepare an RFP for vendor selection and to assist in project management, and
 
WHEREAS, the Madison Water Utility issued a Request for Proposals for consulting services for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Plan, and
 
WHEREAS, the Madison Water Utility has received and evaluated ten consultant proposals and conducted interviews with the finalists, and
 
WHEREAS, money has been budgeted for these services in the 2010 Capital Budget,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute a contract with a consultant Clark Dietz Inc. not to exceed $180,317 for the above-described services.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that change orders that do not exceed the City's approved budget or the scope of the project as authorized by the Common Council may be executed by the City Comptroller and Water Utility General Manager and/or designee, and counter-executed by Clark Dietz Inc.

Fund are available in the Water Utility 2010 capital budget.
