PREAMBLE
 
The City of Madison, The City of Monona and Dane County have proposed a joint project to reconstruct Monona Drive (CTH "BB") from Winnequah Road to Cottage Grove Road.  The existing pavement is in poor condition and in need of reconstruction.  The western half of Monona Drive is in the City of Monona and the eastern half in the City of Madison.  The construction cost of the highway improvements will be financed with 50 percent Federal/State funds and 50 percent local funds.
 
The construction is scheduled for 2012 and preliminary plans have been prepared. The engineering consulting firm hired to prepare plans and specifications, Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC, has prepared geometrics for the reconstruction of this segment of Monona Drive.
 
The proposed geometrics include widening of the corridor to install on-street bike lanes, an eight foot wide sidewalk on the west side, five foot wide sidewalk on the east side and four foot wide grass terraces between the curb and sidewalk.  Grass terraces will be increased to eight feet upon request of the adjacent property owner.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Geometrics for Monona Drive from Winnequah Road to Cottage Grove Road (includes intersection of Atwood Avenue/Cottage Grove Road and Monona Drive) are hereby approved.
