Fiscal Note
No funds have been budgeted for new Adult School Crossing Guards. The estimated salary, fringe benefit and supplies cost of the new assignments for the remainder of 2010 is $12,726. Funds are available in the Contingent Reserve for appropriation to the Police Department. The current balance of the Contingent Reserve is $1,158,660.

Body
WHEREAS, Traffic Engineering staff have studied and reviewed crossing conditions for elementary school aged students crossing Nakoma Road at the marked mid-block crosswalk in front of Thoreau Elementary School and crossing Waukesha Street at Lafayette Drive in front of Van Hise Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, it was found that both of these locations meet adopted City Criteria for assignment of Adult School Crossing Guards; and
WHEREAS, the Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission approved these new Adult School Crossing Guard assignments at its January 26, 2010 meeting; and
WHEREAS, funds have not been budgeted for new Adult School Crossing Guard assignments;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that $12,726 be appropriated from the Contingent Reserve to the Police Department's 2010 budget to pay for these additional Adult School Crossing Guards for April - December, 2010 with the funds being appropriated to:
