Title
Authorizing Information Technology to purchase necessary hardware and software to improve the City's video streaming capabilities.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has been experiencing a higher demand for video streaming from the City website than they have the capacity to support; and
 
WHEREAS, this has resulted in many citizens being unable to view the proceedings of several City legislative bodies via video streaming; and
 
WHEREAS, the demand for video streaming is likely to continue to increase with changes in the media market in Madison and interest in viewing proceedings grows beyond the Madison media market; and
 
WHEREAS, Information Technology and Madison City Channel worked collaboratively researching solutions and have determined that upgrades to Madison City Channel software and hardware will increase the capacity of video streaming; and
 
WHEREAS, these improvements will cost approximately $25,000.00; and
 
WHEREAS, Information Technology has funds available for this in project # 810344 titled Hardware and Software Upgrades in the Adopted 2010 Capital Budget through the reallocation of previously planned projects with no additional appropriation required;
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Information Technology is authorized to spend approximately $25,000.00 for the above-described purposes from Hardware and Software Upgrades Project # 810344 in the Information Technology 2010 Capital Budget on behalf of Madison City Channel.
