The estimated cost for the double-fill is comprised of salary and benefits at a rate of $5,471 per month for salary, plus $2,238 in benefits, or a total of $7,709 per month. Assuming a double-fill period of three months, total salary and benefit expense is $23,127, which will require an appropriation of this amount from the Contingent Reserve to the Mayor's Office. The current uncommitted balance of the Contingent Reserve is $1,192,026.

Body
WHEREAS, Mayoral Aide Mario Mendoza has requested a leave of absence from the Mayor's Office in excess of 45 days and;
WHEREAS, the Mayor desires to hire Larry Studesville to serve as Mayoral Aide in Mario Mendoza's absence and Larry Studesville possesses the necessary knowledge, skill and experience to perform such services and is willing to perform the duties of Mayoral Aide; and
WHEREAS, Larry Studesville is a current employee of the Community Development Division and MGO Section 3.32 (15) allows employees in the classified civil service to take a leave of absence in order to serve in an unclassified position; and
WHEREAS, MGO Section 3.53(6)(h) states: "The Human Resources Director, with the approval of the Mayor and the Common Council if the action requires the expenditure of more than $2,000 and/or is for longer than 30 days, is authorized to double-fill any position for a period not to exceed forty-five (45) calendar days unless such period is extended by action of the Common Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves a double fill in the position of Mayoral Aide to exceed 45 days; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Common Council authorize an appropriation of up to $23,127 from the Contingent Reserve to the Mayor's Office.
