Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Town of Madison for the Operation and Maintenance of the Arbor Hills, Badger Lane and Mayflower Sewerage Lift Stations.

WHEREAS there are currently three sanitary sewer lift stations that serve both City of Madison and Town of Madison customers, and
WHEREAS the agreement for cost sharing for the Arbor Hills lift station is from 1966 and contains some outdated language regarding the method for prorating costs, and
WHEREAS no existing agreement for the Badger Lane or Mayflower lift stations can be located, and
WHEREAS it is in the best interest of both parties to enter into an agreement at this time that covers all three lift stations and reflects a simpler methodology for prorating costs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Town of Madison for the Operation and Maintenance of the Arbor Hills, Badger Lane and Mayflower Sewerage Lift Stations.
Fiscal Note
The City's share of the cost of operating and maintaining all three lift stations is included in the 2010 Adopted Operating Budget of the Sewer Utility. No additional appropriation is required. In 2008, the net cost to the Sewer Utility was $7,650.
