Fiscal Note
This resolution provides an annual contribution to Metro Transit by Badger Coaches, Inc. to help defray maintenance costs at the Dutch Mill Park & Ride lot. It will have a positive impact on Metro's budget during the term of the agreement. During the first year of the agreement, the contribution will be $15,900. The amount will be adjusted each subsequent year based on the Consumer Price Index for Milwaukee-Racine, Wisconsin. That amount will be included in the corresponding year's operating budget.

PREAMBLE

In May 1984, the State of Wisconsin and City of Madison entered into a Lease Agreement wherein the State would build, at its expense, the Dutch Mill Park & Ride lot, providing major capital maintenance from time-to-time, and the City would maintain the lot by providing snow clearance, litter clearance, general upkeep, electricity for lighting the lot, signage, and connecting transit service into Madison.

Metro Transit was assigned the responsibility by the City to provide the connecting transit service and to perform and bear the cost of the aforementioned lot maintenance expenses. The City has already entered into and has a successful agreement with Sam Van Galder, Inc. that also uses the lot as a major Madison area boarding and parking site for its customers. This would expand the group of those using the lot that also contributes to the cost of lot up-keep.

WHEREAS the City of Madison has an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation wherein the City will maintain the Dutch Mill Park & Ride lot; and
