Amending Secs. 2.01(4) and 33.01(10)(b) of the Madison General Ordinances to prohibit Common Council, Board, Commission and Committee meetings on any local, state or national election day.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance prohibits Common Council, Board, Commission and Committee meetings on any local, state or national election day.
*********************************************************************************** The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
1. Subsection (4) of Section 2.01 entitled "Meetings" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"(4) The Common Council shall not meet on the following holidays: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first two nights of Passover, and any general or primary election day at which local City of Madison offices or positions are decided for local, state or national offices, or referenda."
2. Subdivision (b) entitled "No Meetings Election Day" of Subsection (10) entitled "Meetings Not to be Held" of Section 33.01 entitled "Boards, Commissions, and Committees Procedures" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"(b) No Meetings Election Day. No Sub-unit shall meet on any general or primary election day at which local city offices or positions are decided for local, state or national offices, or referenda."
