Fiscal Note

The City pays a flat fee of $1,949 per year plus additional fees for certain special events.  Funds are included in the Operating Budgets of the facilities playing or performing the licensed music.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a license agreement with BMI for performance and playing of musical compositions at various departments in the City of Madison.

Body

WHEREAS, several City venues perform or play musical compositions; and

WHEREAS, the City is required to pay a license fee for the performance or playing of musical compositions; and

WHEREAS, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is authorized to license the City to publicly perform or play musical compositions in the repertory of BMI.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign a license agreement with BMI for the performance and playing of musical compositions in the City of Madison.
