Title
A resolution approving the creation of two subcommittees:

1) Sustainable City Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for the Public Sector (Government/Infrastructure)
2) Sustainable City Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for the Private Sector (Business/Residents)

Body
Whereas the City of Madison adopted the energy plan “Building a Green Capital City” in 2005, and;

Whereas the City of Madison has created the standing committee Sustainable Design and Energy Committee, and;

Whereas a number of recommendations in the energy plan “Building a Green Capital City” have been implemented, and;

Whereas two subcommittees need to be established to write a new sustainability plan for the City and community.

Now therefore be it resolved that the Common Council hereby approves the creation of two subcommittees:

1) Sustainable City Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for the Public Sector (Government/Infrastructure)
2) Sustainable City Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for the Private Sector (Business/Residents)

Be it further resolved that the purpose and charge of these two committees is to develop a new sustainability plan for the City and the community.

Be it further resolved that these two subcommittees are Ad Hoc committees, which will complete their work prior to September 1, 2010 and the terms of the members will expire when the committee has finished its work.

Be it further resolved that each subcommittee will have 15 members and will also include 3 alternate members

The positions for the members are as follows:

Public Sector:
One Alder
8 members of the Sustainable Design and Energy Committee
1 Madison Gas and Electric Representative
1 Alliant Energy Representative
1 Water Quality Representative
2 Transportation Representatives
1 Madison School District Representative
1 University of Wisconsin Representative
1 Thrive Health Care Industry Representative
1 Urban Planner
Of these 18 17 members/3 2 will be alternates.
