Honoring the life of Irwin A. Goodman
Body
WHEREAS, Irwin A. Goodman passed away on August 30, 2009, at the age of 94; and
 
WHEREAS, Irwin was one of Madison's most kind and generous citizens; and
 
WHEREAS, Irwin contributed to our community as a business leader, philanthropist and volunteer for seven decades; and
 
WHEREAS, Irwin and his brother, Bob, have been responsible for many important community projects including the Goodman Atwood Community Center and Madison's first municipal pool; and
 
WHEREAS, the Goodman Pool stands today as a testament to Irwin's community spirit and his understanding of the community he loved; and
 
WHEREAS, generosity was truly a way of life for Irwin; and
 
WHEREAS, our city is marked with countless signs of that philanthropy and will miss Irwin's kind and caring spirit;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison honor the life, generosity and commitment of Irwin A. Goodman to the Madison community and express not only their deep sadness at his passing to his brother Robert, but also their appreciation for all that they have accomplished together.
