Approving Plans and Specifications and authorizing the Board of Public Works to advertise and receive bids for Bike Paths - 2009, Vilas Park Path, Contract No. 6162. (13th AD)

Currently the path in Vilas Park is in poor condition and does not meet ADA standards in some locations. An inadequate drainage system is allowing flow over the path and erosion. The existing free-flow connection from Edgewood Avenue to Vilas Park Drive does not provide sufficient visibility of the counter-directional bike lane on Vilas Park Drive. Parks Division has identified a need for additional parking to serve park users.
Bike Paths - 2009 includes several separate bike path projects. This resolution is for approval of the Vilas Park path project only, and other paths under Bike Paths - 2000 will require separate approval.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
That the plans and specifications for Bike Paths - 2009, Vilas Park Path be and are hereby approved.
That the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise and receive bids for said project.
