Honoring City of Madison Centenarians.
Body
WHEREAS, many states and municipalities across the country have programs to identify and honor their 100 year old citizens, and;
 
WHEREAS, the United States currently has the greatest number of centenarians in the world, numbering over 79,000 in the year 2007, and;
 
WHEREAS, centenarians hold the keys to longevity, quality of life and the Madison community continues to learn from their experiences, and;
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison wishes to recognize and honor our centenarians as valued and contributing members of our community, and;
 
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the City of Madison gratefully acknowledges our centenarian senior citizens,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Madison Common Council wishes to recognize our centenarians by creating a process to honor our valued and most distinguished senior citizens:
 
Recognition Procedure:  City of Madison Centenarian Birthdays
 
Birthday greetings and a centenarian certificate from the Mayor and the Common Council President will be mailed when a City of Madison resident request is made.
