Title
Authorizing the Common Council to accept ownership from Northside Business Association of up to twelve decorative banners to be located on City light poles within the public right-of-way at Northport Drive, North Sherman Avenue, and Packers Avenue.
Body
WHEREAS, the intent of the Northside Business Association (“Association”) is to beautify the entrance to the Northside neighborhood from both Northport Drive and Packers Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Association wishes to install and maintain up to twelve decorative banners (“Banners”) within the public right-of-way of Northport Drive, North Sherman Avenue, and Packers Avenue, as shown on Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineering Division and Planning Department have conditionally approved of the placement of up to twelve of the Banners at twenty three possible light pole locations, as shown on the attached exhibits; and
WHEREAS, the Privilege in Streets Committee has reviewed this request and conditionally approved the Banners; and
WHEREAS, the Association will transfer ownership of the Banners to the City after installation, in exchange for the ongoing maintenance of the Banners by the Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Madison accepts ownership, from the Northside Business Association of up to twelve decorative banners to be located on City light poles at twenty three possible locations within the public rights-of-way of Northport Drive, North Sherman Avenue, and Packers Avenue, as shown on the attached exhibit; subject to the following conditions:
1. The Northside Business Association shall be responsible for all costs of installation and maintenance of the banners.
2. The Northside Business Association shall locate on specific City light poles, as approved by the City Transportation Division and Planning Department.
