This grant requires City matching funds of $8,817, which represents 20 percent of the total project cost of $44,085.  The Fire Department will request these matching funds in its 2010 Operating Budget request.

Body
A grant application has been submitted to FEMA, DHS for the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant.  The grant is for a Smoke Alarm Campaign for the at risk population.  Funds are requested for smoke alarms, installation supplies and educational materials.
 
The operating budget request is:

City matching funding is $8,817.
 
WHEREAS, the City has a smoke alarm ordinance for the protection of the community.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accept the 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant if awarded.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor, City Clerk and other necessary City officials are authorized to execute necessary documents upon award.
 
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that Council approves the grant budget as awarded.
