This resolution amends the Parks Division 2009 Capital Budget by creating a new project (#810630) to account for an improvement in Veterans Memorial Park, and providing related expenditure authority of $103,250. Funding for the design and construction of the Veterans Memorial Park Plaza in Veterans Memorial Park will be provided by the fundraising efforts of various veterans groups in Madison. In addition to cash raised, in-kind donations of approximately $9,000 (materials and labor) have been pledged. The estimated total improvement value is approximately $112,000.

PREAMBLE
The City of Madison Parks Division has been working with various Veterans groups for the past three+ years as they conducted a fundraising campaign to cover the costs for the design and construction of a plaza and the installation of a pergola in Veterans Memorial Park located on Star Spangled Drive. The Veterans groups have exceeded their fundraising goal of $100,000 which includes both cash and in-kind donations. The funds are currently being held by the Madison Parks Foundation.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Parks Division 2009 Capital Budget be amended by the sum of $103,250 to cover the design and construction costs of the plaza and pergola in Veterans Memorial Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the budget authority be affected by the following budget amendment.
