PREAMBLE

The City is proposing to reconstruct University Avenue from Segoe Road to Shorewood Boulevard. The City of Madison will be the lead agency for this project which also involves Dane County and the Village of Shorewood Hills. The City of Madison has applied for Economic Stimulus Funds for construction. Design will be funded with local funds.

This specific project was not listed in the 2009 Engineering Capital Budget because it was originally scheduled for construction in 2011. If Economic Stimulus Funds are received construction will be advanced to 2010. Funds for design are available in the Engineering Major Streets Capital Budget account number 810571, Major Street Projects.

A purchase order will be issued prior to execution of the agreement with the design consultant in order to proceed as quickly as possible. Projects funded with Economic Stimulus Funds require aggressive design schedules in order to meet the goals and deadlines associated with the funding type.

Pursuant to City Ordinances and Policies, the City Engineer advertised for consultant proposals, reviewed the submitted proposals, and recommends the design engineering contract be awarded to Foth Infrastructure and Environment.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Foth Infrastructure and Environment for design engineering services for University Avenue from Segoe Road to Shorewood Boulevard.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute agreements with Dane County and the Village of Shorewood Hills for cost shar...
