Sufficient funds ($50,000) are available in the 2009 Adopted Planning Division Operating Budget to cover the recommended grant amounts that total $45,000, and a $5,000 set aside for maintenance reserves, for a total of $50,000.

Approving the 2009 Neighborhood Grant Program recommendations made by the Staff Review Team and authorizing the Planning Division Director, Comptroller and City Attorney to execute grant agreements on behalf of the City.
Body
WHEREAS the Neighborhood Grant Program provides funds to neighborhood organizations for activities that promote strong neighborhoods, and includes grants for Community Enhancement projects, Neighborhood Leadership and Capacity-Building activities, and Neighborhood Planning; and
 
WHEREAS the 2009 Neighborhood Grant Program includes a mini-grant component where applicants could request up to $2,000, and a neighborhood grant component where applicants could request more than $2,000; and
 
WHEREAS 12 mini-grant applications were submitted requesting a total of $21,280, and 9 neighborhood grant applications were submitted requesting a total of $93,700; and
 
WHEREAS a Planning Division Staff Review Team convened to review applications and make recommendations for funding (including conditions to be included in the grant agreements); and
 
WHEREAS the Planning Division Staff Review Team recommends awarding 5 mini grants totaling $9,500 and 5 neighborhood grants totaling $35,500, as well as setting aside $5,000 for maintenance reserves, for a total budget of $50,000. A copy of said recommendations that are attached hereto and made a part hereof.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby approves the 2009 Neighborhood Grant Program recommendations and conditions made by the Staff Review Team and authorizes the Planning Division Director, Comptroller and City Attorney to execute grant agreements on behalf of the City.
